Two months!

Well howdy do dah. Things are certainly happening here, I just haven't happened to record them in the blog. Gosh it's hard to use a laptop when you have a nursing pillow and two babies already on your lap.

At two months old:

  • The boys love staring at faces and have started to smile. We'll have to wait a little longer to explain that staring is rude, so apologies. They are noticing each other a lot more too... accidental hand holding (in the midst of waving their arms around their hands get caught together) has happened. My favorite is when they try to nurse on each other's heads, or suck on the other's hands.
  • They have a sort of swimming/conducting movement down pat with their arms when they're bored. Also are beginning to will their hands toward objects of interest, like a stuffed animal or my navel(?)... Phineas seemed to be having a pleasant conversation with it the other evening.
  • Speaking of which, Phineas is the champion of leaking out both ends (he's spit up on me twice while writing this), fountaining during diaper changes, and smiling. He's been more fussy these days but typically loves being held and staring at your face.
  • Micah is stabilizing more, and can be soothed with a pacifier or some belly time (Phineas regrettably does not take a pacifier). Still waiting for them to have big enough mouths for our moustache pacifiers. Micah is rather elegant with his hands and enjoys tracing circles on your shoulder while you're holding him. He looks around a lot more than Phineas, and when he's really interested he also purses his lips.
  • We've had a few adventures... eating at Silver Diner, Elevation Burger, and Chick-fil-A, going to church and the nursery (AWESOME), shopping at Target and Trader Joe's. Thinking about a museum this weekend!
  • On average we're down to two or three feedings at night and not too much fussing in between.
  • Our cloth diapers are working out fantastically... bum genius 4.0. Only problem is they don't quite make it through a full night, will have to try additional padding.
